Ian Howard was shocked to get a $1,000 bill for a brief visit to the emergency room that determined he sprained his ankle in a fall last year. Instead of fighting the bill, he just didn’t pay it.

I am no advocate of the vague and slow billing for medical services. But I wonder how long Ian would have a job if his employer’s all customers decided to steal $1,000 of goods and services.
