Barr Condemns Justice Department Prosecutors - WSJ
“Advocating for clear and defined prohibitions will sometimes mean that we cannot bring charges against someone who we believe is engaged in bad conduct. But that is what it means to be a government of laws and not men. We cannot let our desire to get bad people turn into the functional equivalent of the Mad Emperor Caligula.”
Excellent philosophy!

It Takes a Superspreader to Know a Superspreader - WSJ
‘Voting by mail is now common enough and problematic enough that election experts say there have been multiple elections in which no one can say with confidence which candidate was the deserved winner.”
NYT, 2012.
“While fraud in voting by mail is far less common than innocent errors, it is vastly more prevalent than . . . in-person voting fraud”

CNN Criticizes Israel, Arab Leaders For Shaking Hands In The Middle Of A Pandemic - The Babylon Bee
CNN and other media outlets attacked President Trump and foreign leaders this week after footage emerged of Israeli and Arab leaders standing closer than six feet apart and embracing in a peace accord, clearly violating COVID social distancing protocol. Pictures and footage show Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the foreign ministers of UAE and Bahrain completely ignoring social distancing as they smile warmly and shake hands while signing historic peace accords between the three nations.
This would be much funnier if it weren’t so close to the reality of the coverage.

Vatican Looks to Extend Church Leadership Agreement With China Despite Criticism - WSJ
Under Chinese leader Xi Jinping, the country’s ruling Communist Party has steadily tightened its grip on religion, in particular Islam and Christianity. Authorities have converted mosques into gift shops, ripped crosses from church roofs and blanketed religious communities in digital surveillance—part of an effort to eliminate what party documents describe as ideological threats to its rule.
So, yeah, let’s keep it going.

Site Icons for Micro.blog
September 13,2020Time and again, Micro.blog proves that it’s as flexible as it is easy to use. Micro.blog takes the profile picture that you upload and distributes it in several places, making it your site’s icon and favicon. There are a few instances where, as of now, it doesn’t create certain site icons. For example, I have my Micro.blog hosted blog bookmarked in my favorites folder in Safari. Micro.blog doesn’t provide Safari my profile image to use as an icon on that favorite.
No problem! With just a few minutes of work, and I was able to create the files, upload them, and load them into my custom theme template. This work-around doesn’t require much effort, especially if you only change your profile picture once or twice a year. Here’s how I did it.
- You need to generate PNG versions of your photo in various sizes. I used Pixelmator, but you could conceivably use any simple photo editor. You’ll need versions of your photo in the following sizes:
- 16 x 16
- 32 x 32
- 64 x 64
- 152 x 152
- 167 x 167
- 180 x 180
-
With those files saved on your computer, upload them to Micro.blog by going to your Account > Posts > Uploads. (You could really host them anywhere, so if you want to warehouse them on another server, that’s just fine.
-
Now we need to tell Micro.blog, and more specifically your theme, how to tell the various browsers and devices that you have just the right image for them! Go to Account > Design > Themes. Open the
layouts/partials/head.htmltemplate. -
Paste the following link references into that document. (I put them right under the
<link rel="shortcut icon">entry in order to keep things simple.
<link rel="apple-touch-icon" sizes="180x180" href="https://example.com/size-profile.png"/><link rel="apple-touch-icon" sizes="167x167" href="https://example.com/size-profile.png"/><link rel="apple-touch-icon" sizes="152x152" href="https://example.com/size-profile.png"/><link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="https://example.com/size-profile.png" sizes="64x64"/><link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="https://example.com/size-profile.png" sizes="32x32"/><link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="https://example.com/size-profile.png" sizes="16x16"/>- Grab the links to each of the six size versions of your uploaded files, and drop them into the right
https://example.com/size-profile.pnglink.
That’s it! Micro.blog will refresh and you’ll have your profile picture in all of the places browsers and devices display favicons/icons on your site.
